The fresh water lagoons contain largemouth bass and crappie. Salt water fishing in the ocean and Fish Haul Creek produce spottail bass (red fish), flounder, trout, croakers and crabs. If gardening is your thing there is also Fish Haul Farm where you can rent a plot or just go to see how it is all growing.

The Beach House is home to many property owner events throughout the year as well as social clubs and exercise classes you can get involved with and meet weekly. The Port Royal gatehouse is staffed 24 hours and daily patrolling of the entire plantation. They can also do house checks for you when you are out of town. For many the fact that vacation rentals are not allowed in Port Royal Plantation is part of its charm. For the history lover in all of this it is the home of many interesting spots such as markers for Fort Walker (from 1861 soon after SC seceded from the Union) as well as Fort Sherman built by the Union forces after Fort Walker was captured.
